Breast Feeding versus Bottle Feeding - 562 Words

How to feed the baby is a personal decision which should be taken after careful consideration of all the relevant facts. Feeding a baby could be done either as breast feeding or bottle feeding. Breast feeding is the feeding of a baby directly from the breast milk of a female human breast whereas bottle feeding is referred to as feeding a baby with milk from a nursing bottle. Many people argue that breast feeding is the most beneficial way of feeding a baby. In contrast to this view, others argue that there is not any real significant difference between breast feeding and bottle feeding. Therefore, in this essay, both the benefits and drawbacks of breast feeding and bottle feeding will be analyzed. Presence of appropriate amounts of nutrients in the breast milk makes it the best food for babies. According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health (2011), this milk is very rich in nutrients and anti ¬bodies to protect your baby. Mother’s antibodies which are present in the breast milk helps the baby to resist infections. Nutrients present in the breast milk includes Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fat. It also contains vitamins, minerals and hormones that infants require. The cells, hormones, and antibodies in breast milk protect babies from illness (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health, 2011).
